Group Filters
Your Dashboard may contain a lot of data, and some data may be irrelevant for a particular group of users. When publishing a Dashboard, you may want to display different data to different contacts.
For example:
A person in London should only see data about inspections in London. If you have a City column in your Contact Manager, and a question in a form where a City is chosen, you can set up a connection between a Contact Manager and form data while publishing your Dashboard. As a result, a contact to whom the Dashboard is published will only see relevant information in the Dashboard. Connections can be set up with the help of Group filters.
If you want to filter your data via the Dashboards Filters, please see theDashboards Filters article.
How to set up Group Filters
On the Dashboard page, select the Dashboard you wish to publish and click the Edit button.
Click the Publish button on the right panel.
Click the Manage button to create or edit an existing group filter.
On the Manage Group Filters pane you will see the Contact Manager with all nested groups (if any), and can select a group or subgroup to add a filter. Click +Filter next to a needed Contact Manager or Group to proceed.
The Edit Group Filter panel will be displayed.
Click on the Response data to drag questions and answer options from the Data Source panel to this field.
Right now, the following question types are supported: Single line text with pre-format options, Multi-line text response, Numeric Allocation, Object lookup, 3D Matrix (columns with general, date or numeric format.)
Use the Operators dropdown that contains the list of allowed operators for the chosen response data.
The following data formats can be used in Dashboards: general (string), number, and date. The list of operators will differ depending on the data format used:
Format | Operators |
General (string) | equal to, not equal to, contains, does not contain, in, not in |
Number | equal to, not equal to, greater than, greater than or equal to, less than, less than or equal to, in, not in |
Date | equal to, not equal to, greater than, greater than or equal to, less than, less than or equal to, in, not in |
Select a Contact Manager field from the Contact Manager field dropdown.
When selecting response data and the Contact Manager field, some combinations of their formats may be incompatible. For example, if the response data has a numeric format, and none of the columns in the Contact Manager is formatted as a number, the Contact Manager field dropdown will appear empty with the "Equal to" operator selected. In such cases you can choose a different operator or another combination of response data and Contact Manager fields.
You can click on the Swap button to change the order of Response data and Contact Manager fields.
Click the Save button to go back to the previous page.
Hover over the filters you've set up to click the Edit or Delete button.
If you have set up at least one Group filter and then try to change the selected Contact manager or access to the Dashboard, you will see the warning message shown below. In case you proceed, your Group filters will be deleted.
