Chart Types
Each Dashboard consists of Charts. A chart can be one of 6 different types:
Vertical Bar;
Horizontal Bar;
Line;
Pie;
Crosstab;
Table.
Vertical Bar Chart type is the default one
Chart icons can be presented in 3 different colors:
A Blue (filled) icon is used for the currently selected Chart type.
A Blue (outlined) icon indicates a Chart type available for use with the current settings. You may switch between these types at will.
A Grey icon indicates a Chart type that is not compatible with the current settings. For example, if you have created a Vertical Bar Chart and added two values and one dimension, you will not be able to switch to Pie chart since it is limited to one value and one dimension.
The Chart type determines the contents of the Edit Chart panel, as each Chart type has its own fields that can be prepopulated with data: Values and Dimensions (Show By, Slices, Rows/Columns). Each chart type also has its own limit for multiple values and dimensions.
You are able to switch among different types of charts, however, once you input values/dimensions, the chart types that do not support current settings will be grayed-out (disabled).
For limits on values/dimensions for each type of chart, please refer to the table below:
Values | |||||
Dimensions (Show by, Slices, Rows, Columns) | # | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 and more |
0 | All Charts | Pie Line Bar (both) Crosstab | Line Bar (both) Crosstab | Line Bar (both) Crosstab | |

2 | Bar (both) Line Crosstab Table | Line Bar (both) Crosstab | Crosstab | Crosstab | |

The Field settings for the chart data tab and the limits for the values/dimensions for each type of the chart are described in the following chapters:
Article | Description |
---|---|
This type of chart displays numeric data with bars. Each bar represents a dimension point, and the height or length represents a value. Bar Charts can be Vertical and Horizontal. | |
This type of chart displays series of data points connected by straight line segments. The Line chart is best suited for displaying data trends over a period of time. | |
This type of chart presents data in a pie, with separate slices for each dimension point. The size of the pie slice represents the value. | |
This type of chart displays data in a pivot table. You may specify both row and column dimensions and unlimited values, as well as display totals and subtotals. | |
This type of chart displays raw data in a table. You may create multiple columns and enable links to Reports by Respondent. |
